We are excited to launch an initiative aimed at preserving and promoting Kashmiri heritage through a series of photo walks. This project will empower individuals to document the rich cultural, historical, and architecture of Kashmir, capturing it through their lenses. To ensure quality and provide participants with the tools they need, we will begin with a series of workshops. In these sessions, experienced photographers and heritage experts will guide participants on best practices for capturing, cataloging, and curating visual content.
These photo walks are planned to immerse individuals in the cultural landscape, covering landmarks, traditional crafts, and daily life scenes that represent the essence of Kashmir. Our goal is to collectively upload a minimum of 200 high-quality media files to Wikimedia Commons. By making these visuals accessible to a global audience, we aim to foster greater appreciation and awareness of Kashmiri heritage. This initiative aligns with a broader mission to ensure that local stories and histories are preserved digitally, helping future generations experience and celebrate Kashmir’s unique legacy.
